vocational training centers; Nairobi Training Centre, Kima Training Centre in Makueni county, Eldoret Training center in Uasin Gishu County and Ahero training center in Kisumu County. The Technical Vocational and Education training has so far reached a total of over 11500 youth imparting to them various skills and transforming their lives.
The main objectives of the TVET include;
Increased Access to Skills Training
So far has admitted 638 trainees out of the expected 750 in all the locations. The remaining numbers are hoped to be achieved in Q4 mostly through CBT and Apprenticeship which is becoming a key area of focus
Trainings on entrepreneurship, business skills, proposal writing, life skills, and business plan development are on-going in a bid to enhance the competitiveness of our graduates.
In relation to the second objective, Increased Access to Employment Opportunities;
For the 2012/2013 graduates, 330 out of the targeted 338 have so far secured employment which is a great plus for the project. (either wage or self-employment).
Mentorship activities with industry players have continued and also linkages and networks that help the program meet its intended goal. There have been linkages with financial institutions, private sector and county governments that is adding value to the program.
The program is also exploring ways to enhance markets for products in our centers to boost morale of trainees and also generate income. Attachments are also on-going activities that assist the graduate in getting experience.
